A (Fashion) Month in Review
My top 3 favorite shows that inspired me and my personal style during the F/W 25 runway shows.
First things first, there were many shows that I thought were beautiful, thought provoking and delightful. Fashion month was creatively stimulating in may ways. Some overall trends I saw this fashion month were layers, furs and broaches. Some details felt very 2010’s to me, but overall felt fresh. The below three shows, really resonated with my personal style. I wanted to immediately replicate the styling with what I have. The layering across these three shows really spoke to my current winter efforts, and wanted me to add even more layers and cinched more coats with belts. I was absolutely enthralled with these shows.
Marni
The colors, the proportions, the fabric - UGH! I live for the Marni show each fashion month. There’s just something about the eclectic structure that is a Marni outfit, and this collection, dare to dream, was exceptionally eclectic. I loved the tailored coats with plays on proportions with the added layers of a sweater. I would die for the slinky dresses with a drop waist or multi layered skirt. Visually, I loved the play on fabric weight and textures, with the silks, leathers and furs all in one look. Only Marni can do this and do it well. This collection had a balance of masculine and feminine structures and silhouettes that play well in my personal style of having structure, yet a feminine edge to my looks. When the section of the collection evolved where they painted on the clothes, my jaw hit the floor. I’m a sucker for when visual art becomes wearable, and this theme made so much sense after reading how Francesco Risso concepted this collection. Risso partnered with visual artists Soldier Boyfriend and Olaolu Slawn spending a month long residency with them allowing them to collaborate and experiment on the collection in infusing the work of the artists. This resulted in graffiti-esque art embellished on silhouettes, and an art exhibition called “The Pink Sun” which debuted after the runway in Milan and will run through April 14th.
A few things I’ll be incorporating in my looks…
Color blocking with layers. Heels with a pop of bold color. Light fabrics mixed with heavy fabrics. Silk neck scarf or choker. Dare I say, drop waists. JUST BE MORE BOLD.
Miu Miu
The newest Miu Miu collection feels edgy, wearable and fun with a spin on if the 1920’s and 1990’s had baby. I saw a few references of the clothing from both decades, and it was interesting how timely the collection looked. Another take on textures, with slinky pants styled with knit tops, leather on leather styled with the softness of a Sherpa lined coat. This collection felt feminine yet masculine with an undone take. Miu Miu channels the meaning of women in their newest collection. I’m most excited in the styling that, again, has a different take on layering. Light underthings showing under thick knit dresses or light tops. Multiple undergarments showing, yet completing a look that leaves feminine energy lingering. The overcoats with bold shoulders, both long and micro, left me with the need for one. These were a powerfully balanced in femininity and masculinity. Obsessed with the fur micro version. The fabrics and styling made me excited to try something like this in my wardrobe.
A few things I’ll be incorporating in my looks…
Thin knee high socks. Tees under dresses. Bold patterned skirts with comfy tops. Fur and broaches!
The Row
While this is not a review about The Rows F/W 25 collection, this is about the recently shown Resort 2026 collection. If Mrs. 2E Failenson from Breakfast at Tiffany’s was a runway show, she would be The Row Resort 2026, that is if Mrs. Failenson was very less eclectic and only wore neutrals, which is not the interior designer she was.
The Row Resort collection felt intentional and current. It felt fresh and undone. I was intrigued with the no shoe approach that highlighted their knit leggings, again giving the collection a very laxed feel regardless of the structured garments. (Side note: Jenny Walton wrote how to get the “no shoe” look in her latest post. Inspired by The Rows collection.) Similarly, the play on layers here with the cleanness in the silhouettes led for some playfulness along with the details in the styling with the headdress. Some of my favorite details were the dramatic high collars, the slightly details cinched waists belts and the knit over button down layering. The entire essence of the collection feels chic with a side of cozy.
A few things I’ll be incorporating in my looks…
The no shoe look according the Jenny Walton. Layering a turtleneck over a button down. Short trench coat. Lightly detailed belts to cinch the waist.
Honorable mentions
Prada. With the button details on her structured coats.
Simone Rocha. With the crystal details and fur waist belt.
Christopher John Rodgers. With the color!

The closet floor is my metaphor to the things that are shoved, hidden, and dumped into potential oblivion. To be reconnected with at a time you’re ready to open up that door again just to see what tumbles out.
For you readers, this will be a place for me to explore what tumbles and put it into writing. As of now, those may be topics tied to art, vintage and fashion with splashes of film and literature. All the creative things that are swirling in my brain that I want to dive deeper into and share with the world. If you find this intriguing follow along.
